God Cares for Those Who Trust

ree

Little is known of the prophet Nahum, whose name means comfort. His book

describes and reflects on the imminent destruction of Nineveh, the capital city of the

mighty Assyrian Empire. He spoke to the oppressed people of Israel and Judah, who

suffered depravations under the Assyrian armies. He reminds us that however terrible

God may be to His enemies, we who trust God experience Him as good. He is good to

us. This is proof of the depth of His love for and goodness to His own.

So much of our lives are about waiting and trusting for our circumstances to

change. No matter what we are going through, particularly as caretakers, God is

working for and through us. As we trust, we experience God as good. When any

situation is out of your hands, you are invited to trust, not because you have all the

answers, but because you know Who does. How many times has God’s love rescued,

strengthened and helped you?

We are given inspiration from Psalm 28:7-9, “The Lord is my strength and my

shield, in whom my heart trusts. I am helped, so my heart rejoices; with my song I

praise Him. Lord, You are a strength for Your people, the saving refuge of Your

anointed. Save Your people, bless Your inheritance; pasture and carry them forever!”

This brief psalm is a petition and cry for mercy. Surrendering is not about giving up; it is

about letting go and placing what is beyond your control in His hands.

When you release your worries to the Lord, you gain peace and assurance that

He is holding it all together. We pray together to release our worries and trust the Lord

to be our rock and shield, as we lean on Him. Trusting in God doesn’t mean to have all

the answers. It means believing His goodness even when the path is unclear.

Seasons of waiting are not wasted – they refine us, deepen our relationship with

God and lead us toward His perfect path. We can rest in knowing that the One who

holds the universe also holds our futures. Even though we do not ‘see’ how

circumstances can work for good, as we trust, we are filled with God’s grace and peace.

We pray for solace, comfort and determination with the words of Psalm 18:2-3, “I

love You, Lord, my strength, Lord, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer. My God, my rock

of refuge, my shield, my saving horn, my stronghold! Praised be the Lord, I exclaim! I

have been delivered from my enemies.” I recommend reading the entire Psalm 28 and

18 for reflection this month. We pray Psalm 18:36-37, “You have given me your saving

shield; Your right hand has upheld me; Your favor made me great. You made room for

my steps beneath me; my ankles never twisted.” Trust and lean on our Rock!
