Believing God Will Renew Our Strength

By this time in December, many of us are starting to become overwhelmed with
Christmas things, plus our regular life of caretaking that takes precedence. How do we
stay in a peaceful place, without giving into the secular and picking up the negative
vibes of others? Our hope comes from our personal relationship with God as His
strength flows into us, enabling us to trust that the Lord has got this.
There is not a person in this life who doesn’t have a cross or trauma, grief, an
illness or illness of a loved one, money concerns, a job loss, uncertainties where to live,
unhealed forgiveness, irreconcilable issues with family or friends or more. We can
name many. Often listening to another’s story though, we realize we will keep our own
difficult circumstances.
We are consoled at the beginning of this chapter Isaiah 40:1 “Comfort, give
comfort to My people, says Your God.” God’s love for Israel and Judah has never
weakened. So now Isaiah speaks directly to shaken survivors to come, to be comforted
and relieved of their distress. There is contentment in God’s message of forgiveness
and through His infinite power. God is God. God remains committed to His own. As we
continue to build our foundation on the Lord and His word, we will gain strength and not
grow weary.
Scripture study, The Word Among us gives us wisdom, “Jesus wants us to build
our whole life on Him: our family, our job, our studies, our friendships, our hobbies. How
do we do this? It says in Matthew 7:24, ‘Everyone who listens to these words of mine
and acts on them will be like a wise person who built his house on rock.’ We do it by
coming to the Lord in prayer and reading the Scriptures. We do it when we seek His
wisdom and strength during our day. We do it when we place our worries and our
dreams into His hands. Spending time with the Lord like this every day shows us just
how trustworthy He is, and it shows that He is our true refuge.”
We are encouraged to cry out to the Lord for whatever comfort and strength we
may need today and every day. Try to fix your eyes on God’s faithfulness. Believe that
He has you in the palm of His hand. Trust that He is already at work to bring good out
of evil. Put your hope in the Lord and do not be afraid. Do you know there are 365 bible
verses about not being afraid. It would seem, God knows we are frightened. May our
faith be stronger than any fear. God’s word says He will never leave or abandon us. We
may hear scary news, but we do not have to let it overwhelm us. With God’s grace, we
will soar on eagle’s wings again and become who God calls us to be. Will you choose to
hope in the Lord and not grow weary?
